Grades 6, 7 and 8

 

bulletAll grades are departmentalized.

 

bulletReligion is taught daily as a subject and Christian values and principles are modeled daily in our interactions with each other.  We attend Mass as a school on a weekly basis and take part in various prayer services throughout the year.

 

bulletEach teacher is a specialist in his/her own field, enhancing the general program, and helping the students in preparing for High School.

 

bulletA foreign language is taught, and computer education and technology are integrated into the curriculum.

 

    Our middle school students meet or exceed the New York State learning standards in all curricular areas. Students learn to research, investigate, and organize information. They often work in cooperative learning groups and take part in various hands-on activities. Both written and performance assessments are used at this level.

    Spanish instruction in grades 6-8 fulfills the Spanish I requirement for high school. Most St. Barnabas students begin their freshman high school year in Spanish II.

    Our students leave eighth grade with a strong faith, sense of community, and the knowledge and independence to succeed in high school.
